Pathaan Controversy: FWICE Seeks Government Protection Against ‘Boycott Bollywood’ Trend After Suniel Shetty Asks Help From UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Actor Suniel Shetty recently met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as part of the initiative to discuss with him opportunities that filmmakers can avail while shooting movies in Uttar Pradesh’s upcoming Film City. During the meeting, Suniel asked help from Yogi Adityanath to stop the #BoycottBollywood trends that are gaining momentum on social media. As a result of this, The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a statement urging the government to help stop the Boycott Bollywood trends.

As reported by Hindustan Times, FWICE in their long statement criticized the ongoing trend against Hindi films and called it ‘hooliganism.’ The statement read,  “The recent trend of “#Boycott Bollywood” has been affecting the producers and lakhs of workers working for the films and it has been seriously noted by the FWICE as it has raised a major situation of survival of the common workers, technicians and the artists who are earning their daily bread from this industry.” ALSO READ: Pathaan Controversy; Deepika Padukone’s Shots Of Buttocks And Partial Nudity Pose REMOVED From ‘Besharam Rang’-Report

The statement also mentioned that a film is made with passion and the dream of success. However, these blooming dreams get shattered by such hateful trends. FWICE revealed that in the wake of these anti-Bollywood trends, people have been barging into the theatres and threatening the public, and forcefully vacating the theatres. There have been threats to the producers and the lead actor/actresses. They are abused on social media platforms with filthy/vulgar language.

The FWICE  also explained that if anyone has an objection against a film, they should write to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) instead of attacking theatres.

To note, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film 'Pathaan' is facing a boycott trend and is being embroiled in controversies. On Thursday, a Bajrang Dal protested against the film in a mall in Ahmedabad. The movie created an uproar after several politicians objected to Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron coloured bikini in the film's song 'Besharam Rang'.
